Crave Cupcakes

I am currently in a Photo Contest to try and win Crave Cupcakes for an entire year! That's 365 delicious cupcakes! I have been Crave's BIGGEST Fan since they first opened in 2004. I am the only person in the world with customized Nike Air Force Ones in Crave-o-Licious Colours (pictured below) and I even worked for Ernst & Young, which nominated Crave as an Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist. Also, if I do end up winning, I will donate cupcakes to the Calgary Food Bank for Christmas!!!

This is my photo in the contest, it's of my beautiful niece Sophia! She loves cupcakes as much as I do :)

Can you believe the Peace Bridge cost $25 million to build?

dbsjump
If you follow my blog, you all know how much I love jumping. My goal is to jump around the world, one country at a time. Well since jumping is contagious, DBS joined in on the fun. I absolutely love how these photos turned out!

Sunny afternoon with DBS =)

Drake said it best, "25 sittin' on 25 mil"

Side Note - I experimented with high dynamic range (HDR) photography again. HDR is basically shooting three photos at different lighting and processing it into one photo. What do you think?

I heard Tim was covered in blood. I guess it gets intense in the stairwell lol.

tower11
Look at that smile, he knows he's getting a free dinner!

tower12
The Climb and Run for Wilderness is held annually at the Calgary Tower to increase awareness of wilderness, wildlife and wild water in Alberta. The top participants can climb the tower 30-36 times! Congrats to all the Ernst & Young participants & thanks to the Partners for the free breakfast at Cora's =)

PS - I was the Manager/Photographer. These little legs of mine can't do no stairs!

Globefish is my favourite sushi restaurant in Calgary. I love, love, love everything about this place. The food is amazing and the staff are so sweet & friendly. You have to try the beef tataki, takoyaki & the special rolls. Oh and don't forget to buy a pack of Hi-Chew for $1 because the proceeds are donated to those affected by the tsunami in Japan.

Muse Restaurant

muse
Muse Restaurant in Kensignton
Three years ago, the BF & I made reservations at Muse but we ended up going to Banff. The BF loves this restaurant but I had never been. Well, we finally visited Muse over the Holidays and I must say, it was definitely worth the wait. The food, the ambiance, and the staff (our waiter was so wonderful & helpful with the menu) were superb. Can't wait to go back!

muse2
Truffle Popcorn - I love the smell of truffle oil!

muse3
These lanterns reminded us of the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

muse4
Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna - Foie Gras French Toast, Honey & Soya Glaze, Caramelized Cantaloupe
What a perfect combination with the Tuna & Cantaloupe!

muse5
Quebec Foie Gras Stuffed Profiteroles - Balsamic Roasted Pear, Wild Boar Pancetta, Gastrique
My first time trying Foie Gras and I was in heaven! I can't wait to go to Paris next month for more French cuisine =)

muse6
Quebec Foie Gras Stuffed Profiteroles - Balsamic Roasted Pear, Wild Boar Pancetta, Gastrique

muse7
Noble Farm Duck Breast Tournedos - Sweet Potato Ravioli, Glazed Turnips, Duck Egg
My meal for the night & it was absolutely delicious.

muse8
Food always tastes better with you =)

muse9
Yukon Potato Lobster Lasagne - Seared Scallops, Sauce American, Wilted Spinach, Black Tobikko
A fresh take on the classic Lasgna. No pasta and made with potatoes.

muse10
Dark Chocolate & Praline Millefeuille - Milk Chocolate Sauce, Candied Lemon Zest
Hands down, the BEST dessert I've ever had in my life. That says a lot since you know I LOVE to eat! The Praline reminded me of Ferrero Rocher, which is my favourite chocolate.

muse11
At the end of our meal, Executive Chef Xavier Lacaze came by our table. He was very kind & even took this picture with me. I wish him the very best in Season 2 of Top Chef Canada! If you're in Calgary, then definitely check Muse out. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Charcut

charcut2
Charcut's Connie DeSousa was featured on Top Chef Canada!

charcut
Red Tea Pot - I actually want this for my new house =)

charcut3
Chef Connie came over with appetizers on the house! She was super friendly and too shy to take a picture on her own, so she took one with Johanne & I.

charcut4
Compliments of the Chef - Pig Head Mortadella (Hand-Mixed Pork, studded with Pistachios and Truffles), Brassica Mustard, Warm Quebec Raclette Cheese & Cast Iron Baked Pan Bread. We never would have guessed the Mortadella was cooked inside a Pig's head (see picture below) because it was delicious!

charcut5
Romaine Lettuce, Sour Cream, Mint & Walla Walla Onions

charcut6
Spring Creek Butcher Steak - Chimichurri, Argula and Fried Matchstick Potatoes (reminded me of Hickory Sticks). The steak was super tender, just how I like it.

charcut7
Slow Roasted Heritage Chicken - Pickled Fennel, Apple Salad & Crisp Bacon

charcut8
Duck Fat Fried Poutine - Cheese Curds and Truffle Gravy
This is the reason why I wanted to try Charcut and it was definitely worth the hype! The girls were skeptic to try this dish because of the "Duck Fat" but everyone ended up liking it. I loved the smell of the truffle gravy!

charcut9
So excited to eat!

charcut10
More side dishes on the house, courtesy of Chef Connie! She seriously spoiled us the entire night =)

charcut14
The Pigs' Heads - don't let these pigs intimidate you, the food was delicious!

charcut15
The Kitchen

charcut16
The Crème de la Crème - Crème Brûlée with Honey and Pears!

If you love trying new restaurants, I would HIGHLY recommend trying Charcut in downtown Calgary (connected to the brand new Hôtel Le Germain). The food was amazing and the staff were super friendly. Thank you to Chef Connie for a wonderful evening! Try the Duck Fat Poutine, you won't be disappointed.
